Classmate Jim Sprinkle's father passed away this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
Edwin “Ed” Granville Sprinkle, 86, of Hampstead, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Carroll Hospice Dove House.
Born on January 25, 1927 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Alver E. and Gladys Barrick Sprinkle. He was the husband of Gladys L. Sprinkle, his wife of 62 years.
He was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1944. He then served in the United States Navy from 1945-1947. He was an Agent for State Farm Insurance, retiring in 1992.
He was Past President with the Westminster Jaycees and the Carroll County Life Underwriters. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, home improvements, was very patriotic, and was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan. He mainly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Jim and Sharon Sprinkle of Palm Bay, FL; daughters Kelly O'Hara of Westminster and Jody Sprinkle of Annapolis; grandchildren Jason Sprinkle, Brad Sprinkle, Kasey O'Hara, and Michael O'Hara; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Kenneth Sprinkle, Roberta Starner, Boyd “El” Sprinkle, and Norma Rubeor.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 3:00 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster with Carroll Hospice Chaplain David Bare officiating. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or to St. Bartholomew Roman catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 448, Manchester, MD 21102.
