Patricia A. Joyner, 76,

LITTLESTOWN Patricia A. Joyner, 76, died late Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.

She was the wife of Earl W. Joyner for 57 years. Born August 3, 1934, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Russell C. and Bernadette (Topley) Elliott.

She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Washington and was retired from Scenic Irrigation, Inc. of Bowie, Md., since 2004.

Previously she was employed with Catholic University of Washington.

She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown. Through her children, she was involved in many organizations from scouting to dance groups and volunteered her time with groups and causes at St. Matthias Church in Lanham, Md., where family worshipped and where the children attended school.

In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by three daughters, Bonnie L. Richter and husband, Bob of Davidsonville, Md., Deborah A. Perdew and husband, Jon of Coleman Falls, Va., and Wendy L. Ferko of Crownsville, Md.; two sons, James E. Joyner and wife, Lynn of Manchester, Md., and Daniel E. Joyner of White Plains, N.Y.; 22 grandchildren, Samuel, Omar, Ananda, Rocco, Shaman, Ruchi Singh, and Pranam Bai Rose Richter, Jamie, Nathan, Luke, Jacob, Mark, Eli, Abby, and Caleb Perdew, Christine, Heather, Gregory, Ashley, and Patti Lynn Ferko, and Grant and Jamison Joyner; three great-grandchildren, Freedom and Elan Richter, and Charlotte Perdew.

She was predeceased by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Holidays were always celebrated as large events, bringing together relatives far and near under the Joyner roof to share food, faith, and family.

Though she was unassuming and humble, Patricia was the thread that weaved together the family's past, present, and future.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown, with The Rev. James M. Sterner Celebrant. Viewing will be Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, with the Rosary recited at 8 p.m.

Interment will be Monday, August 1, in Ft Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md. Contributions in Patricia's name may be sent to her church at 29 S. Queen St., Littlestown, PA 17340. Published in Evening Sun on July 28, 2011
