On June 20, 2009 I was particular pleased to have been afforded the fine hospitality of Dan Hartzler, Union Bridge Mayor Brett Grossnickle, Carroll County Schools Superintendent Dr. Chuck Ecker and a number of other great folks for the unveiling and dedication of the historic 1900 Blue Ridge College bell in Lehigh Square at the annual Union Bridge “Depot Day.” (See: http://tinyurl.com/ko4dlh.)

That day, Mayor Grossnickle was literally all wet when I had a chance to chat with him and his lovely family – he had taken a tour of duty at one of the many entertainment opportunities that day, the dunk tank. Obviously some folks got lucky and provided the mayor with an opportunity to take a swim.

Locals weigh in on health care reform at Cardin's town hall

http://www.fredericknewspost.com/sections/news/display.htm?StoryID=93821

Originally published August 13, 2009 By Meg Tully News-Post Staff

HAGERSTOWN -- Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin slogged his way through a town hall meeting centered on health care Wednesday afternoon, as a boisterous crowd shouted back, clapped and interrupted him.

Frederick residents turned out for the chance to make opinions known at the town hall, hosted at nearby Hagerstown Community College.

Nationally, town hall meetings on health care have been drawing headlines because of the large crowds and heated debates.

"I am here today because I believe in town hall meetings," Cardin told the group. "I believe in your right to ask your questions."

Speaking to the media before the event, however, he objected to people disrupting such meetings.

"I just ask people to be respectful," he said. "People have strong views about health care. They want to get information, and town hall meetings allow them to get information."

Dinner with my wife

August 10, 2009 - August 13, 2009

http://kevindayhoffart.blogspot.com/2009/08/dinner-with-my-wife.html

Dinner with my wife at Ledo’s. It must have been a mistake that neither Caroline nor I had a meeting last Monday evening and we could actually have dinner together. (On Twitpic here: http://twitpic.com/dftqm)

Of course, we took our child, Mr. Moose.

There were quite a few folks in the restaurant that enjoyed the fact that we took Mr. Moose with us. Mr. Moose has become quite a litmus test about people.

I frequently find it amusing to find folks who do not seem amused with Mr. Moose. For me, it is sort of a test as to who is human and who is not… And yes, I still deny that I am a cylon…q.v. http://tinyurl.com/ovlbrb and http://twitpic.com/8qsyp or http://tinyurl.com/psljze

However, some folks do not get it. Usually an indicator that such folks should get a life.
